Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his first title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his first title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had led some to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
